We are seeking a Senior Transportation Design Project Manager to lead infrastructure projects from planning through final design and delivery. This position offers the opportunity to manage complex roadway, highway, and transportation design projects for state and local agencies, including the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a strong technical foundation in roadway design, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all phases of transportation design projects, including planning, preliminary and final design, permitting, and construction support.
• Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships with NCDOT, municipalities, and other public and private clients.
• Prepare and review design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and project documentation to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet performance and contractual expectations.
• Coordinate with departments to integrate design and field data effectively.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to design staff and junior engineers.
• Manage and organize multiple concurrent projects while ensuring alignment with firm standards and client objectives.
• Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and supporting proposal and pursuit efforts.
