Agronomy Equipment OperatorPosition DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY The
Golf Course Equipment Operator is a mid-level position responsible for the safe operation of motorized turf equipment used in golf course maintenance. This role builds on laborer experience and introduces more complex mowing and operational tasks that directly impact course conditioning. Operators in this role are expected to demonstrate care in machine handling and perform light preventative maintenance.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS REQUIRED - Experience operating golf course or landscaping equipment preferred.
- Familiar with most brands of golf course maintenance equipment and robotics. Brands such as Baroness.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment malfunctions.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.
- Operates all machinery in a safe, alert manner.
- Ensures proper required PPE usage at all times and safety devices on all machinery.
- Reports unsafe equipment or injuries promptly.
- Participates in safety briefings and equipment training.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Operates large-area mowers, triplexes, blowers, sprayers, top dressers and other large equipment.
- Performs daily checks on fuel, oil, tire pressure, and mower blades.
- Mows fairways, roughs, greens, and tees to prescribed heights and patterns.
- Safely transports and cleans machinery after use.
- Assists with bunker raking, tee setup, course accessories, and irrigation support.
- Reports mechanical issues to the equipment technician or supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Walking, driving, lifting 50 lbs., and performing repetitive motion.
- Outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Standing, lifting, bending, kneeling, walking for extended periods.
- Exposure to lawn equipment, hand tools, and motorized carts.
- Exposure to noise, dust, grease, uneven terrain, and moving equipment.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Outdoors in heat and humidity, with exposure to lawn maintenance equipment, chemicals, and computers for recordkeeping and scheduling.
SCHEDULE Golf maintenance operates 7 days/week. Early mornings and weekend work is required as part of a rotating crew schedule.
