Logistics Manager
Location : Nevada, IA | On-site, manufacturing and steel fabrication environment
Reports to : VP, Manufacturing
Compensation : $60,000–$80,000 salary plus 25% profit sharing (commensurate with experience)

Role Summary
Oversee and manage all shipping and receiving operations for a busy fabrication shop. This role ensures accurate inbound and outbound logistics, maintains compliance with shipping requirements, and supports production schedules through effective planning and coordination. The Logistics Manager will also work with carriers and vendors, negotiate freight rates, and drive continuous improvement in logistics processes. This is a hands-on position that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Outcomes
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Maintain complete and accurate records, including OS&D (Overages, Shortages, and Damages).
- Support production schedules by aligning shipments with operational needs.
- Negotiate and manage freight costs, identifying savings opportunities.
- Implement and improve logistics processes that strengthen efficiency and safety.
Responsibilities
Prepare, package, and secure products for shipping to customers and vendors.Verify the quantity and quality of all incoming materials; sign off on supplier BOLs.Generate shipping labels and documentation required by carriers; maintain all shipping / receiving records.Coordinate shipping schedules with production leads to meet hot shipment needs.Manage relationships with carriers, including MCT and other third-party logistics vendors.Schedule drivers and identify opportunities for back-hauls to improve efficiency.Obtain DOT permits as needed for oversized or regulated loads.Support freight rate negotiations and provide cost analysis to management.Promote continuous improvement in shipping and receiving processes.Maintain safety and equipment records; ensure proper loading / unloading practices.Provide assistance in other production areas as needed, including local pickups or deliveries.Qualifications
Education :
High school diploma required.Must-Have :
2 to 4 years of logistics, shipping / receiving, or related experience.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; strong math skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate PIVs, overhead cranes, and other equipment.Strong communication and coordination skills.Highly Recommended :
Valid driver’s license and Class A CDL.Work Environment
Shop-floor based; requires physical activity including lifting, walking, and equipment operation.Fast-moving environment with direct coordination between shop teams, carriers, and vendors.
