Lead Therapist :

Alabama Clinical Schools has been a behavioral healthcare provider in the Birmingham area for over 20 years. Our treatment services range from intensive residential treatment for males ages 9-18 to therapeutic foster care for males and females of all ages. Our RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care programs for boys are the only programs of their kind in the State of Alabama. The Lead Therapist :

He / she will assist the clinical director with daily operations of Alabama Clinical Schools / clinical services department on Rise Hall. He / she will have thorough knowledge regarding unit rules and regulations and maintains consistency in implementation. They must understand procedures related to restraints and seclusions as evidenced by performance of physical holds / restraints and / or seclusions on patients which were necessary to prevent the patient from harming themselves or someone else and which resulted in no injuries to patients or staff. They must maintain current competency in Handle with Care through participation in annual refresher training. Maintains current competency in Verbal De-Escalation through the regular use of verbal de-escalation techniques as well as participation in annual refresher training.

Qualifications

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or other related human services field.

One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with adolescents and / or adults. For specialized issues or treatment modalities, training must be specific to these; abuse reactive, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy and relaxation therapy.

Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.

Current license from the State of Alabama, such as LPC, LCSW, or LMFT

Successfully pass background screen (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI / FBI fingerprint check) and drug testing
