Chief Academic Officer

Des Moines Public Schools is seeking a Chief Academic Officer.

Job Summary:
Provide leadership and guidance for all teaching and learning, educational and curriculum- related programs, and all district operations.

Successful candidates for this position will possess:
1. Iowa Administrator license with Evaluator Approval or willingness to obtain
2. Iowa Superintendent license or willingess to obtain within two years
3. Master’s Degree with emphasis in curriculum and instruction, education and/or business administration or closely related field.
4. Minimum of five years previous administrative experience, both school and central administration, preferably in an urban district

Highly Qualified candidates for this position will possess:
1. Doctorate Degree in education.
2. Demonstrated success in closing the achievement gap

Salary Range for this position:
$151,611 - $204,630

This represents the minimum to mid-point of the salary range. Candidates offered employment will be compensated based on skills, work experience and education.

Benefits

• Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA): the contribution is 14% of the base salary. An example of $90,000 salary @14% TSA= $12,600 in district contribution to TSA Link for TSA:
• Enrollment in IPERS (Iowa Public Employee Retirement System)--a defined benefit planIPERS - district contributes 9.44% and the employee contributes 6.29%

Moving expenses paid up to $6,000, if candidate moves into district boundary
