Position Summary :

The CNC Programmer will provide programming, planning, and machining expertise in support of the Manufacturing Department and client requests.

Essential Functions :

  • Plans machining activities by analyzing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Develops CNC programs using Mastercam for 3-5 axis mills and multi axis Lathes based on engineering drawings and models
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs
  • Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Creates set-up sheets for all programs generated
  • Assists engineering in prototyping by quickly and accurately proving out programs for their designs and notifying them of any design flaws or machine constraints
  • Sequence automatic machine operations and select cutting tools
  • Follow all safety guidelines as outlined in the company safety manual
  • Determines proper Tooling and design fixtures / work holding components for machining on mills, and lathes

    • Skills / Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree or certification in related field preferred
  • 3 5 years CNC Programming experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3 5 years operating, troubleshooting, and set-up experience
  • Experience with Mastercam or equivalent as well as fixture / tool design software
  • Proficient understanding of G-Code and M-Code programming
  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Detailed knowledge of precision measuring equipment and the application of such instruments including but not limited to calipers, ID / OD micrometers, depth gauges and indicators
