Procurement Analyst Senior, Logistics
The Senior Procurement Analyst, Logistics is responsible for supporting transportation procurement strategy, cost governance, and logistics operations through detailed analysis, reporting, and cross-functional coordination. This role ensures freight rates remain competitive with market conditions, carrier performance meets service expectations, and logistics operations are supported with accurate, timely, and actionable data.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with a working understanding of day-to-day logistics operations, enabling effective collaboration with carriers, brokers, internal operations teams, and finance.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Cost Management
- Analyze transportation spend across modes including truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), intermodal, rail, and parcel, as applicable
- Monitor freight rates against external market benchmarks (e.g., DAT, Market Rate IQ) to ensure alignment with defined pricing thresholds
- Support carrier sourcing activities, including RFPs, mini-bids, and contract renewals
- Review carrier contracts, rate sheets, and accessorial structures to ensure compliance and cost control
- Identify cost variances, overcharges, and savings opportunities; support corrective actions such as rebates or pricing adjustments
- Assist with freight invoice review and audit processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to contracted rates
Logistics Operations Support
- Partner with operations teams to support daily freight execution and service continuity
- Analyze operational performance metrics such as on-time pickup/delivery, tender acceptance, dwell time, detention, and demurrage
- Support issue resolution related to service failures, billing discrepancies, and carrier performance concerns
- Maintain accurate transportation data within the TMS and related systems
- Assist with operational process improvements that enhance efficiency, service levels, and cost performance
- Support peak season planning and volume forecasting from a transportation capacity perspective
Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare performance reports for leadership and key stakeholders
- Develop lane-level, carrier-level, and mode-level analyses to support decision-making
- Translate complex datasets into clear insights, trends, and recommendations
- Maintain dashboards and tracking tools to monitor spend, service, and compliance metrics
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with logistics operations, procurement, finance, and accounting teams
- Support communication with carriers, brokers, and third-party logistics providers
- Provide data-driven insights to leadership to support procurement and operational decisions
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, logistics, transportation or supply chain
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- SAP knowledge is a plus
- Sourcing, contract negotiation and carrier management
- Understanding of freight procurement processes and logistics operations
- Experience with TMS and procurement platforms
- Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and approval workflows
- Problem-solving and decision-making under time or cost restraints
- Results-oriented with a focus on service and cost optimization
- Adaptability in fast paced, evolving logistics environment
- Ability to travel up to 10%
