[job_card.job_description]Assess patients and review medical history, current medications, and presenting GI symptoms Educate patients on diagnostic procedures (e.g., colonoscopy, EGD), prep instructions, and post-procedure expectations Provide guidance on managing chronic GI conditions (e.g., IBS, GERD, Crohns, ulcerative colitis) Coordinate necessary labs, imaging, or diagnostic tests as ordered by the provider. Monitor patient vitals and assess clinical status during clinic visits Conduct telephone triage, addressing patient concerns and escalating to providers when appropriate Support physicians with in-clinic procedures (e.g., hemorrhoid banding, anoscopy) when applicable Provide discharge education and reinforce follow-up care plans after appointments or infusion visits Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR of assessments, interventions, and patient education Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care Follow infection control protocols and maintain clean, well-stocked exam and infusion rooms. Strong communication skills clear, calm, and compassionate with patients and team members. Our endoscopy center is one of only three centers in Iowa recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy is known as the leader in setting standards for excellence in gastrointestinal endoscopy and has designed the only national program recognizing quality and safety in the practice of gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Our center has also been accredited by the AAAHC, having met their rigorous quality and safety standards. AAAHC accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organizations commitment to meeting certain performance standards.Our board-certified physicians specialize in : Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Diagnostic Endoscopy, Therapeutic Endoscopy, Infusion, and Advanced Therapeutics.
Education Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent is required
- Active RN licensure for the state of Iowa is required
- Two (2) year minimum experience within a clinical setting and / or gastroenterology preferred
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-orientedRegistered Nurse (RN)to join ourGastroenterology clinic team. This role supports the delivery of high-quality outpatient GI care by assisting providers with patient assessments, education, care coordination, and clinical procedures. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and is passionate about improving patient outcomes through proactive and efficient support.
In this position, you will be responsible for rooming patients, collecting clinical information, providing pre- and post-procedure education, and assisting with chronic disease management for conditions such as GERD, IBS, Crohns disease, and ulcerative colitis. Youll also play a key role in scheduling tests, triaging patient concerns, and collaborating closely with physicians, infusion staff, and administrative teams to ensure a seamless patient experience.
