Nursing Assistant

This position is located at the Salisbury VA Medical Center within the Mental Health Service Line. The Nursing Assistant (NA) will be assigned to the Inpatient Psychiatry / Behavioral Health Unit will provide basic, appropriate, and effective interventions to individual patient needs according to established facility polices and procedures.

Responsibilities Nursing Assistant (NA) can assist in the full range of nursing care to patients / residents with physical and / or behavioral problems in a hospital, long term care, or outpatient setting under the direction of a Registered Nurse and / or Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse. Duties include :

• Ability to provide a range of patient / resident care and contribute to the completion of the nurse care plan and recovery of patients / residents.
• Observe patients / residents' physical or emotional status and refer deviations and / or problems to supervisor in a timely manner.
• Properly use equipment, materials and supplies in simple diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients / residents, their families and health professionals.
• Organizing and obtaining routine supplies and equipment.
• Reports patient status to the RN and documents pertinent observations in the medical record.

Work Schedule : Full Time, Days 8 or 12 hour work schedule and will be discussed during the interview.
