Assistant Professor of Practice - Graduate Business Programs (On-site only) Rivier University’s Division of Business and Security Studies seeks a qualified, credentialed candidate for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice for the Graduate Business Programs. This will be an on-campus full-time, non-tenure track, renewable, 9-month per year appointment in the Division of Business and Security Studies.
The Graduate Business Programs is a full-time member of the faculty and administrative team of the Division of Business and Security Studies responsible for teaching as well as serving on committees and having an active record of productive scholarship.
Areas of responsibilities : student-centered teaching, providing student advisement, participation in divisional curriculum initiatives consistent with full-time faculty, and supporting of strategic initiatives of the graduate program in collaboration with the Dean and Director of Graduate Business programs.
Administrative Responsibilities: Mission and Goals
- Support the mission and goals of the University and the Division in articulating goals and objectives with Divisional colleagues.
- Participate in service to the division and the graduate programs.
Student Advisement, Recruitment and Retention
- Work collaboratively with full-time faculty to distribute student advisees.
- Assist the Dean and Director of Graduate Business on recruitment activities pertaining to graduate programs in collaboration with the Office of Admissions.
- Support the interpretation of student retention and persistence data.
Curricular Responsibilities
- As a full-time faculty member, the Assistant Professor of Practice carries a teaching load of 21-24 credit hours (e.g., courses in accounting for managers, business research and communications, finance for managers, project management, risk management and decision-making, strategies of innovation, etc.) across two semesters.
- Provide direction and support to the graduate business programs including collaboration with Rivier’s Athletic Program, supporting and monitoring internships.
- Advise on plans of study, registration, career planning, and other curricular and academic matters.
- Engage and support students.
- Works to maintain a divisional spirit of leadership, service, and continuous personal growth.
- Other duties as required to support the Mission of Rivier University and the Philosophy of the Division of Business and Security Studies.
Qualifications - An earned terminal degree in a business-related discipline; Preference will be given first to candidates with a business management and project management educational and professional background.
- Proficient in the use of administrative and instructional technology.
- Evidence of teaching proficiency in graduate courses offered by the University, especially in the courses listed above.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Desire to mentor graduate students in their course work, research, and career goals.
- Enjoys the daily activities of teaching and administrative leadership in a new, dynamic, faculty commons work environment.
- Professional experience including leadership and management experience is preferred.
