TTU Post Doctoral Research Associate - Computer Science

Required Qualifications

PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

This position is designated as involving access to critical infrastructure systems and / or research, as defined by Texas Executive Order GA-48. As such, candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. Employees are required to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations related to the protection of critical infrastructure. Ongoing employment is dependent upon maintaining eligibility for access and successfully passing periodic security and compliance reviews.

About the Department and / or College

The Department of Computer Science has 100 PhD students, 218 Master students, and 885 undergraduate students including 474 major students and 411 foundational students as of Fall 2025. The Department of Computer Science offers four degree programs, including Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Software & Security Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. The Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE, / ) serves approximately 5125 undergraduate and 1053 graduate students, supported by 204 faculty and instructors. The college had 856 BS, 580 MS and 84 PhD graduates in the 2024-25 fiscal year. All incoming first year students are enrolled in a common foundational curriculum for all undergraduate programs. Foundational students declare a program of choice and can move into upper division after completing the foundational classes with a TTU GPA of 2.5 or higher. The WCOE consists of the Departments of Chemical Engineering; Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Petroleum Engineering. All BS programs and the Environmental Engineering Master’s program are ABET accredited. All departments have Master’s and PhD programs. In 2024, the college had approximately $23 million in federal research expenditures, contributing to a total research expenditure of $49 million in the college.
