Responsibilities : Job Summary
The Speech- Language Pathologist is a qualified professional person who directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides speech therapy services in the acute, outpatient or home setting as prescribed by the attending physician.
Duties
Provides treatment as ordered by the attending physicianEvaluates patient's speech and language abilities, both defects and assets, and performs periodic re-evaluationsPlans and provides rehabilitative services for speech and language disordersRecords type of treatment and patient's reaction to it on clinical / progress notesMaintains adequate records on all patients, including summary reportsUtilizes community resources and department personnel by proper referralSelects and administers diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materialsInstructs and counsels other health team personnel and family members in methods of assisting patient in improving, correcting and accepting disabilitiesAttends interdisciplinary team meetingsPrepares visit notes on the day of visit which are incorporated into the clinical record weeklyParticipates in staff development activities and In- service educationParticipates in the development of and periodic revision of the physician's plan of careDemonstrates a high level of initiative with patient careCarries out assignments without directionDemonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and orderliness in performing patient care assignmentPerforms other duties as assignedOther Info :
