Access Control Personnel
Access Control personnel support the MDA Security and Emergency Management Directorate in executing multiple Security Operations Services at MDA facilities in Redstone Arsenal. Responsibilities include controlling access to buildings and property, protecting equipment and material, and performing interior and exterior facility security inspections as directed. Additional duties involve issuing visitor badges in accordance with established policies, ensuring visitors present a valid photo identification or passport, verifying their identity as part of the visitor access process, and creating temporary access badges for approved personnel accessing the MDA facilities. Personnel must interpret magnetometers and X-Ray checks according to procedures to ensure security is not compromised. They must also ensure visitors secure items they are prohibited from bringing into the facility, including personal electronic devices. Conducting security measures such as RAMs, ESMs, and Facility Access Inspections as directed by Security Operations, escorting on-site personnel to restricted areas, and conducting extra security measures (ESM) as needed are also part of the role. Interior / exterior checks of MDA facilities to verify security is not compromised, reporting all observed violations of MDA policies and procedures immediately upon discovery to the Shift Supervisor or Security Control Center, responding and assisting medical, fire department, law enforcement, and other personnel at the direction of supervisors, providing the SS or SCC with on-the-spot assessment when responding to an emergency incident, responding to emergencies and performing CPR / AED / First Aid as needed, and coordinating with the Security Operation Center to ensure all functional and operational procedures are followed during special events are also required. Other duties as assigned are expected.
Qualifications include a minimum high school diploma or GED, the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance, and certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certified (100%), and trained in Red Cross First Aid.
