Overview
Primary Function:
Provide individual and small group tutoring and homework assistance to High School students in the Learning Center. Assist students in improving academic achievement by helping them with homework and/or reviewing class material. Other assistance might include: predicting test questions or working on solutions to problems.
Responsibilities
Key Roles (essential Job Responsibilities):
- Coordinates daily homework assistance and tutoring program for members.
- Prepares the learning center for the day’s activities and programs by setting up materials.
- Keep written logs of members’ observations and progress.
- Assures that all members sign in when coming into the program.
- Maintains members order and discipline by managing members’ behavior; reinforces rules of the club and all the recreational areas (including the gym).
- Assist in the creation of learning activities, bulletin boards, displays of member’s activities and other department objectives.
- Promote and stimulate program participation.
Qualifications
Skills /Knowledge Required:
- Take the assessment test with earning a least a B
- Must be proficient in High School Math and Science.
- High School diploma or GED or higher
- Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to members from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds.
- Good level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
