Description:
The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care by prescription of the physician.
Responsibilities include the diagnostic evaluation of the cardiopulmonary system.
This includes obtaining and analyzing physiological specimens and interpreting physiologic data.
The role involves performing tests and studies of the cardiopulmonary system, management, education, and rehabilitation of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
The practice includes the application of technology and use of treatment protocols across all care sites.
Duties involve the application and monitoring of medical gases and environmental control systems.
Responsibilities also include mechanical ventilatory support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacological agents related to respiratory care procedures, and cardiopulmonary rehab.
Additionally, the role encompasses hemodynamic cardiovascular support.
