Overview

BRANCH DIRECTOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

Hourly Rate $20-$25

The Branch Director coordinates and directs all Club programming at his/her Club Unit. He/she reports directly to the Director of Operations.

He/she is responsible for the supervision of after school, vacation, and early release day programs. This includes coordinating with and supervising all program staff, including the Teen Coordinators with regards to teen programming.

He/she is responsible for holding timely program staff meetings, attending Managers Meetings, All Staff meetings, Board Meetings (when requested) and Community Meetings (as appropriate).

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability in planning, initiating and interpreting activities, programs and services based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • Must possess verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to put together requested information for proposals, reports, and marketing & communication items for their program.
  • Must be able to manage and train all program staff.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office, Excel & Publisher.Is able to use the internet for research and other job duties.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • The Branch Director is responsible for the development and execution of the Club’s annual program objectives. It is also their responsibility to make sure that their staff are conducting programs that meet the needs of the members, the organization and the quality standards that reinforce our mission statement.
  • Once the Board has determined the finalized budget, the Branch Director has the responsibility to stay within the budget limits assigned to their Club site.
  • He/She is responsible for gathering pertinent details and expenditures for field trips, special events and newly proposed programs and submitting them to the Director of Operations and the Chief Executive Officer for review.
  • He/She attends all In-House Teen Socials (at any of the organizations Club sites).
  • He/She attends all organizational events and fundraisers as assigned.
  • He/She is responsible for collection and receipt of program fees.
  • He/She is directly responsible for the training of their Club site staff and partnering with the Director of Operations in hiring new staff for their Club site. The Branch Director is also responsible for preparing weekly work schedules for their staff, reviewing timecards, preliminarily approving or disapproving time off requests before submitting them to the Administrative Office for final approval, initiating Personnel Action Requests for resigning employees. He/She is also responsible for annual evaluations for their Club staff and disciplinary actions up to and including termination of employees where appropriate.
  • He/She is responsible for collecting, retaining copies and submitting any necessary grant required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • He/She is responsible for making the community aware of Club programs and special events. This includes face-to-face marketing, flyers and brochures.
  • Assists the Director of Operations by ensuring that all staff report maintenance needs and keep their areas clean.
  • Attends all appropriate meetings.
  • Continues personal and professional growth through participating in training and conferences.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned.
  • Is trained and able to safely transport club members in approved club vehicles.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Maintains close contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions and advise/counsel.

External: Maintains contact with the public to give and obtain information, either in response to inquiries or as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS - A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Must be a high school graduate.

PROFESSIONAL EXEPRIENCE – Must have at least two years face-to-face leadership experience with a non-profit youth-serving agency.

KNOWLEDGE – Must possess skills for the direction and coordination of recreation programs and program staff.

LICENSES – Must have a Class “C” license for over one year, and a clean driver’s record. Must be current in CPR/First Aid certifications and have a current TB clearance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stand for long periods of time to safely supervise and monitor activities throughout the club, outside or on field trips and be able to prevent problems that may occur with staff and children.
  • Able to run, throw or kick a ball to demonstrate physical activities for youth, or able to run to fulfill supervisory role in emergency procedures.
  • Able to handle tools that are needed for program delivery or administrative duties .: use computers, set up of chairs & tables, throwing/catching a ball, glue guns, scissors, paper cutter, copy machine, pencil sharpener, etc.
  • Able to reach above head for attaining and replacing program/administrative supplies.
  • Able to use cleaning supplies ., a mop, broom, dustpan, empty trash cans, vacuum, launder Club towels, uniforms, etc.
  • Able to squat or stoop to pick things up or assist a child.
  • Able to transport yourself to your assigned worksite, another Boys & Girls Club of Ventura facility or any offsite scheduled training or meeting.
  • Able to follow the employment rules and dress code as established by the Boys & Girls Club to ensure the safety and quality of program delivery.
  • Able to fill out a supplies request or facility maintenance order when needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must have the physical skills abilities for the working conditions that are required to perform the essential duties of this position, as required by the American with Disabilities Act. The physical skills might include sitting or standing for long periods of time, walking, and carrying or lifting items up to 40 pounds at one time, squatting, bending over, twisting, or repetitive motions. These activities might be in addition to other physical skills that are needed to complete the job description.
