RN Behavioral Health - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) - The patients in this unit carry various psychiatric diagnoses including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and cognitive impairment such as dementia. Many patients may be under involuntary and/or court-ordered admissions.
- The Behavioral Health/Mental Health Registered Nurse shall be responsible for patient assessments, medication administration, interdisciplinary team coordination, admissions, discharges, internal and external transfers, delegating to assistive personnel, electronic medical record documentation, patient transport, withdrawal monitoring and management, and emergency response procedures.
- The RN Behavioral Health shall know about applying de-escalation techniques to help people manage their emotions and behavior.
- Shall provide evidence-based individual support, such as cognitive behavior therapy principles for depression and anxiety.
- Shall be able to work 8- or 12-hour shifts, days, nights, weekdays, weekends and holidays.
RN Mental Health Qualifications - Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision -OR- Possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience- Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing
- Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
- Must have a minimum of 24 months experience in an emergency department environment during the last 36 months
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) are mandatory for all specialties.
- Evidence of current immunizations is required
