POSITION SUMMARY: The role of the Sr. Director of Workforce Development & Clinical Education is to strengthen oversight and coordination of clinical students who come to our campus. This position would ensure students are accurately placed in appropriate units, maximizing both their learning experience and unit efficiency. The Sr. Director would serve as a central point of communication, supporting students and new nurses, while also collaborating directly with directors, preceptors, and faculty. In addition, this role would provide regular reporting to leadership on student progress, successes, and areas of opportunity. The Sr. Director of Workforce Development and Clinical Education will have pivotal role in addressing the clinical education needs for DHR Health sponsored educational and community programs. Establishing this position will help streamline clinical education, enhance students and staff satisfaction, and ultimately strengthen our pipeline of future nurses and healthcare professionals in the community.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS: • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• Bachelor's degree in Education or relation field required.
• A Master's degree in Educational Administration or a related field required.
• Experience in hiring, supervising, managing, and evaluating faculty and other staff.
• Experience in initiating innovative programs.
• Able to develop and manage budgets.
• History of managing multiple complex projects concurrently.
• Self-directed and decisive and able to excel in an environment of continuous change.
• Evidence of success as a leader of complex organizations.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Entails cognitive and technical knowledge plus the ability to progressively manage professional health care education delivery across the continuum of care. Requires the ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and/or information both verbally and in writing -as is the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word to executive leadership. Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocols, procedures, and standards within area of nursing clinical expertise. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice, display of exceptional leadership abilities and promotion of hospitality principles in every day practice.
- Experience in senior leadership roles within healthcare, nursing, or academic settings

- Educates patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.
- Collaborates closely with unit's leadership to align training with unit's gaps and hospital priorities
- Ensures proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
• Provide executive leadership for all clinical workforce development initiatives, with a focus on nurse apprentice students, nurse tech students, and clinical apprenticeship programs.
• Develop and implement long-term strategies to expand clinical workforce pipelines in alignment with organizational mission, patient care goals, and staffing needs.
• Partner with Chief Nursing Officer, Clinical teams, HR, and Academic Affairs to integrate workforce development into the hospital's strategic plan.
• Ensure programs meet national, state, and accreditation requirements for clinical apprenticeships and student placements.
• Design, oversee, and evaluate structured apprenticeship programs, including curriculum alignment, competency-based training models, and student learning outcomes.
• Establish metrics to monitor success of apprenticeship programs, including recruitment, retention, certification/licensure attainment, and conversion to full-time employment.
• Ensures structured onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development for nurse apprentices, nurse techs, and clinical students, fostering clinical competency and preparing then for workforce success.
• Collaborate with schools of nursing, allied health, and workforce boards to strengthen academic-clinical partnerships.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to govern all apprenticeship and student clinical workforce programs.
• Maintain regulatory compliance with federal, state, and accrediting bodies for workforce education and clinical training.
• Oversee reporting and auditing of apprenticeship program metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
• Serve as organizational lead for accreditation readiness related to workforce development and training initiatives.
• Act as primary liaison with academic institutions, workforce agencies, and professional organizations to advocate for innovative workforce solutions.
• Represent the hospital at regional, state, and national forums related to nursing and allied health workforce development.
• Provide consultation and mentorship to clinical and academic leaders on best practices in workforce development, apprenticeships, and clinical education models.
• Collaborates with directors and managers to guide apprenticeship programs and clinical education initiatives, while providing mentorship and leadership development for staff while fostering a culture of continuous learning and workforce excellence.
• Establish a system of metrics to evaluate program success including:
o Apprenticeship metrics: enrollment, retention, program completion, licensure success rates, transition-to-practice outcomes.
o Workforce impact metrics: reduced vacancy rates, improved retention, decreased reliance on agency staffing.
• Quality outcomes: student competency achievement, patient safety indicators, satisfaction with clinical training experience.
• Use data analytics to refine workforce strategies and demonstrate return on investment (ROI) of apprenticeship initiatives.
• Manages the coordination of DHR Health sponsored educational and community programs, with the use of their clinical expertise in overseeing and supporting the clinical components of these programs.
