Job Summary
The Sr. Environmental Engineer supports the facility’s compliance with Title V air permits, wastewater requirements, greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, and hazardous waste management regulations. This role provides technical support to plant operations and serves as a key liaison between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and the Environmental Department to ensure consistent understanding and execution of environmental compliance requirements.
Essential Functions
- Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation for new permits, modifications, variances, and regulatory approvals with Federal, State, and local agencies.
- Interpret permit conditions and ensure the facility maintains full compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Track permit expiration dates and prepare timely renewal applications.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
- Ensure all required environmental testing is completed in accordance with Title V and wastewater permit conditions.
- Monitor performance and data integrity of environmental monitoring systems, including CEMS (continuous emission monitoring systems).
- Maintain and routinely update environmental plans such as the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
- Lead or support investigations of environmental incidents or near misses, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions to completion.
- Serve as the rotating on-call environmental duty person during off-hours.
- Conduct regular environmental compliance audits of facility operations.
- Support development of scopes of work, plans, and technical specifications for environmental projects and assist in the procurement of related services.
- Escort environmental agency inspectors during site visits.
- Develop, update, and deliver periodic environmental training programs.
Required Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of EPA and California air quality regulations, with specific experience working with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).Solid understanding of waste, wastewater, stormwater, and spill response / prevention regulatory programs.Strong Microsoft Office skills, including proficiency in Excel.Self-starter capable of working independently with limited supervision.Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex issues and develop practical solutions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with operations, engineering, and regulatory personnel.Ability to monitor and assess system performance and recommend improvements.Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.Ability to build and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships across the organization.Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to emergent situations.Supervisory Responsibilities

B.S. in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related scientific field.Minimum of 10 years of experience in a petroleum, renewable fuels, or other manufacturing / industrial facility.Physical Requirements
