Launch Your Career in a High Growth, Technical, and Impactful Industry

Are you graduating from a technical high school or completing a 2-year college program and looking to launch a long-term career in the construction industry?

Kamco Supply of Boston is offering a 2 Year Technical Rotational Development Program designed to give young tradespeople and technical graduates a strong foundation in the commercial door, frame, and hardware industrya fast growing and highly specialized sector of construction.

This program is built for people who enjoy hands-on learning, problem solving, working with tools and materials, and being part of major commercial building projects.

You'll rotate through four different disciplines, each building skills that lead to fulltime career opportunities in installation, estimating, engineering, detailing, and project management.

Program Rotations

Rotation 1: Locksmith & Field Technical Training (6 months)

Start in the field to build real-world knowledge of how doors, frames, and hardware actually work.

  • Working with commercial locks, cylinders, hinges, closers, exit devices, and electrified hardware
  • Key cutting, key system basics, and pinning cylinders
  • Troubleshooting hardware issues
  • Shadowing service calls and installation teams
  • Understanding how materials are installed and maintained on the jobsite
  • Learning safety practices and proper tool use

This rotation gives you the mechanical foundation you'll use in every other part of your career.

This rotation is perfect if you're detail oriented, good with math, or enjoy working with plans.

Rotation 3: Job Detailing (6 months)

Move into the office to see how technical drawings become engineered submittals used in construction.

  • Using CAD or similar software to create drawings
  • Preparing submittals for architects and general contractors
  • Building hardware schedules and cut sheets
  • Learning code requirements (fire, egress, accessibility)
  • Identifying conflicts and technical issues
  • Assisting with material orders and machining sheets

This rotation builds a foundation for understanding how components come together.

Rotation 4: Project Management & Construction Coordination (6 months)

Learn how a project comes together from start to finish.

  • Work directly with contractors, installers, and vendors
  • Help coordinate material delivery and scheduling
  • Visit jobsites to observe progress and quality
  • Support customer communication and issue resolution
  • Assist with change orders, project tracking, and closeout packages

This rotation builds leadership, organization, and communication skills that lead to strong long-term careers.
