The Role

NNS is seeking an experienced engineer to support the Quality Assurance Engineering (QAE) department. This Engineer 5 will maintain local technical authority of mission critical nuclear processes and the implementation of outfitting procedures. Additionally this candidate will work with internal and external Tech Warrant Holders that impact quality processes across the enterprise. This Engineer 5 is responsible for QAEs interpretation of technical requirements executed by technical manuals standards and contracts.

This candidate will create and maintain technical partnerships across the enterprise. They will coordinate with other functional areas to identify and address problems evaluate data develop solutions / recommendations to solve problems and optimize candidate will provide technical leadership through identification and implementation of process improvement initiatives that support Quality Assurance Engineerings key performance measurements vision and strategy. They will provide training and mentoring to build QAEs and Q&TSs technical Incumbent should have a questioning attitude a desire to learn and solve problems while working with personnel at all levels and within different functional areas of the company.

Ability to obtain a DoD Clearance.

Researches develops designs and / or tests components equipment systems and networks in one or more engineering disciplines. May design equipment facilities components products and systems for commercial industrial and domestic purposes. Applies engineering principles to components and systems including assembly analysis and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design test modification fabrication and assembly of prototype. Applies research to the planning design development and testing of systems instruments controls engines and / or machines.

Must Have

Bachelors Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience

• Masters Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience;

Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
