Role Overview
This role focuses on designing and developing precision mechanical systems used for test and calibration of advanced optical and vision-based products. The work supports manufacturing and new product introduction for high-performance imaging systems such as optical assemblies, vision modules, and display-related hardware. The position is hands-on, highly collaborative, and rooted in real-world manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical assemblies and subsystems for test and calibration equipment
Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and assemblies using SolidWorks
Support development of opto-mechanical fixtures, alignment tools, and precision mechanisms
Collaborate closely with product design, test software, process engineering, and manufacturing teams
Translate product requirements into reliable, manufacturable equipment designs
Develop and maintain engineering documentation including specifications, BOMs, assembly procedures, and maintenance guides
Participate in design reviews, tolerance analysis, and failure investigations
Improve equipment performance related to accuracy, repeatability, reliability, and throughput
Support prototype builds, debugging, and validation testing in lab and factory environments
Assist with transition of equipment designs from development to production
Required Qualifications
2 4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical or equipment design
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for part and assembly design
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
Experience designing equipment for medium to high-volume manufacturing environments
Exposure to precision mechanical or opto-mechanical systems
Experience supporting new product development and production ramp activities
Strong documentation skills, including engineering specs, assembly instructions, and maintenance documentation
Preferred Experience
Background in optical, imaging, or vision-based systems
Experience with tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and precision alignment mechanisms
Familiarity with test equipment development or calibration systems
Hands-on experience working in manufacturing or production support settings
