Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
- Fill prescriptions for pharmaceutical compound preparations for patients and physicians pursuant to state and federal laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with and, when appropriate, exceeds certification standards pertaining to all aspects of the compounding practice.
- Work with outside bodies to ensure the compounding facility is following guidelines to ensure the safety and quality of compounded sterile preparations.
- Maintain accreditation standards or individual certifications for compounding.
- Ensure all prescription labels, documentation and compounded preparations strictly adhere to current federal and state laws and regulations, including applicable United States Pharmacopeia (USP) compounding guidelines, technical and quality-related governing the same.
- Contact prescribers or patients to provide clarification and verify prescription information such as dosing instructions, drug strength and drug name to expedite order process.
- Interpret prescriber prescriptions; verify appropriateness and accuracy of prescription information entered order processing system.
- Verify prescription to be dispensed contain the correct medication and labeling according to company and regulatory guidelines.
- Develop, implement and update the quality assurance (QA) programs including identifying goals and member / client outcomes.
- Ensure that all QA programs are being run in accordance with all policies and procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Report QA updates, results and discrepancies found to the Senior Director, Pharmacy, Pharmacist in Charge, and Quality Management Committee.
- Provide education, drug information and medication management to members.
- Provide oversight and support to technicians to assist in resolving issues.
- Ensure a drug utilization review is completed with each prescription dispensed.
- Maintain daily production, quality and service levels.
- Maintain working knowledge of all current laws and regulations at a state and federal level pertaining to compounding pharmacy.
- Assist in ensuring that prescription-related records are compiled to support efficient and effective insurance audits. Provide preparation assistance for insurance audits as requested.
- Partner with physicians and their agents to determine evidence-based, clinically sound compounded therapies tailored to address specific and / or unique patient conditions.
- Assist with development and enforcement of policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate, and safe medication compounding and use.
- Documents and reports medication errors to quality management on a timely basis.
- Manage direct reports in accordance with company policies in an equal manner that ensures confidentiality
- Lead and mentor staff to improve skillset and career potential
- Advise on employee promotions, transfers, and dismissals

Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Pharm DActive Pharmacist license in good standing with applicable State Board of PharmacyAt least 5 years in a compounding pharmacy setting.Demonstrated managerial experienceMinimum of 2 year (s) of experience in a similar role, with a focus on compounding.Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry related software programsPreferred Skill / Abilities :
Experience or knowledge of compounding rules and standardsPrior experience in hospital or compounding pharmacy.Work Environment / Physical Requirements :
