Job Summary

Under limited supervision the Database Administrator is responsible for coordinating designing and securing enterprise-level databases used to store track and maintain large volumes of critical business information. This role serves as the highest advanced-level subject matter expert providing authoritative technical guidance to professional staff and application teams. May also serve in a lead role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Database Administration & Operations

Manage all aspects of physical database administration including schema management security setup installation upgrades patching backup and recovery space management performance tuning and capacity planning for SQL Server

Support SQL Server databases across Production Test and Development environments

Provide database administration support within Microsoft SharePoint farm environments

Install upgrade configure test and deploy complex database software including SQL Server Always On configurations

Develop implement and maintain comprehensive database recovery plans and procedures

Performance Security & Design

Analyze database performance and recommend tuning strategies and application changes

Implement user authentication and validate database security protocols across systems

Review system and application designs and develop new database solutions as needed

Modify database structures and deploy schema changes in response to evolving business requirements

Automation Data & Collaboration

Script batch data loads and automate operational database jobs

Support application teams by troubleshooting issues and enhancing database performance

Collaborate with technical teams to ensure database reliability scalability and availability

Apply best practices for database governance and cloud-related technologies

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university

AND

Minimum 7 years of experience supporting an operating system database management system or related technical environment

Preferred / Additional Skills

Working knowledge of Cohesity Backup Appliance

Working knowledge of cloud technologies and governance

Experience supporting high-availability and disaster recovery database environments

Ability to lead or mentor junior database professionals
