Medical Assistant

Job summary

• Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of Providers and Administration
• Medical assistants perform administrative and clinical task to keep the offices of running smoothly
• Responsible for arranging hospital admissions and laboratory services
• Tasks include explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examinations and sometimes perform basic laboratory test
• Vision and hearing screenings, administer vaccines/immunization/injections
• Dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilized medical instruments as required
• Scheduling appointments, follow ups and/or referrals
• Maintain accurate medical records, history and updates
• Take and record vital signs
• Perform patient check-out procedures
• Collect laboratory specimens appropriately
• Assist Providers
• Provide clerical support to front desk such as customer service,collecting deductibles and co-pays
• Follow billing and coding procedures for insurance purpose
• Maintain an OSHA and HIPAA compliant working environment

Minimum requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Medical Assistant Diploma
• Six months to one year of physician office experience preferred

Abilities required

• Fluent in English/Spanish
• Must be able to translate medical terms from English to Spanish
• Must be willing to travel thru out the city
• Reliable Transportation
• Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Applications
• Complex Problem Solving Skills
