We are looking for a Principal Consultant – Utilities Civil Litigation to provide strategic direction, manage client relationships, and oversee complex litigation within the utilities sector. This position can be based in Washington, DC; Marlborough, MA; or remotely across the United States.

Responsibilities Provide expert guidance and strategic support to clients in the utility sector facing civil litigation and other legal challenges

Analyze complex legal issues, develop case strategies, and offer insights to help clients navigate legal proceedings

Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis related to utilities facing civil litigation matters

Oversee, manage, and execute deliverables for client engagement projects for utilities and other client types

Develop and implement effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes

Collaborate with attorneys, legal teams, and other experts to strengthen client deliverables and outcomes

Provide expert witness testimony and analysis when required

Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting utilities litigation

Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication

Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the utilities sector

Evaluate the performance of existing offerings and recommend adjustments to optimize consulting market share

Participate in networking events, conferences, and industry associations to promote the firm's services

Mentor and coach junior consultants, providing guidance for professional growth

Requirements Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, Finance, Business Administration, Law / Legal, or Political Science

Juris Doctor (JD), Master's Degree, MBA or PhD preferred

10+ years' experience in the energy utility space, in a consulting firm, utility, public utilities commission, Big 4 accounting firm, energy-focused law firm, or similar

Proven ability to generate consulting services sales and lead business development tasks

Experience leading ideation, design, and implementation of new service offerings

Experience writing or providing expert witness testimony for utility rate cases or regulatory proceedings

Strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office

Ability to present complex ideas and strategies to utility leadership

Occasional travel to client sites and regulatory hearings, typically throughout the US and Canada

What We Offer Base salary typically starting at $200,000 plus annual incentive compensation bonus.
