Description : The Emergency Department has 4 beds in a secure psychiatric area and 25 procedure rooms. The unit also has 8 hallway beds utilized 24 / 7. Staffing includes a total of 88 personnel comprising various job titles. The unit operates with a patient ratio of 4 : 1, with flexibility during acute surges. Required skills include ultrasound, IV skills, and knowledge of various medical devices. The patient population has multiple comorbidities, including complicated heart conditions, DKA, sepsis, trauma, and stroke. Typical procedures performed include trauma care, stroke care, laceration repair, orthopedic trauma, ultrasound, IV insertion, IO insertion, eye exams, EKGs, psychiatric care, and cardiopulmonary care. Ideal candidates are motivated hard workers, creative problem solvers, and genuinely care for patients. Weekends and on-call requirements vary depending on the hiring status. Every other weekend is required for contract labor and every third for HCA hired staff.
