Health Politics & Policy Teaching Faculty Open Rank (Term Faculty)

LEHIGH UNIVERSITY. The Department of Population Health, College of Health (COH), invites applications for an open-rank Teaching Faculty position in Health Politics and Health Policy with a specialization in healthcare regulation, health services administration, or political and social determinants of health, with an anticipated start date of July 2026. This position is a renewable, fixed-term, non-tenure-track, full-time position. The initial term of appointment is 3-5 years.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate or master's degree in political science, health services administration, business administration, economics, public health, public policy, health services research, or a closely related field by the date of employment. Candidates must have a willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment and engage with communities.

The individual hired will be expected to offer 6 classes per year at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates will be expected to teach beginning through advanced topics in health politics and policy, healthcare operations management,  healthcare finance, political and social determinants of health, or population health courses appropriate to their specialization. In addition to teaching, the individual hired will be expected to mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate level, contribute to curriculum and program development, and participate in departmental, college, and university service. They will have the opportunity to contribute to the  recently launched interdisciplinary BS degree in Integrated Business and Health in collaboration with the College of Business.

While the position is not tenurable, Teaching Assistant Professors who develop excellent records in the areas of teaching and service are eligible for consideration for promotion to the rank of Teaching Associate Professor, and ultimately to the rank of Teaching Full Professor.

The Department of Population Health in the College of Health has an interdisciplinary faculty, innovative curriculum, robust experiential learning opportunities for students, and integrated career and professional development. Our Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Population Health, jointly leads the Integrated Business and Health (IBH) program, and houses minors in Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy and Politics, Maternal and Child Health, and Population Health. The Department contributes courses to all the majors and graduate programs in the College of Health. The individual hired will have the opportunity to contribute to the IBH program as well as other curricula in the College of Health.

The mission of the COH, the newest of five colleges at Lehigh University, is to understand, preserve, and improve the health and well-being of domestic and global populations and communities with community-focused and data-driven research and education. The COH offers undergraduate majors in Community and Global Health (BA), Health, Medicine, and Society (BA), Population Health (BS), Biostatistics / Health Data Science (BS), and Integrated Business and Health (BS), as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH), and PhD in Population Health. As our faculty grows, the COH will add a suite of graduate degrees in Health Data Science (certificate, MS, PhD), and more.
