Cisco & Arista Network Cutover / Migration Engineer (Contract)

• 6-month Full Time contract on 1099 or C2C

• 100% Remote in the United States of America

• Overnight and weekend work required based on customer maintenance windows

We are seeking an experienced Network Cutover / Migration Engineer to execute enterprise switch refresh and migration activities. This is a delivery-focused role where the Low Level Design (LLD) is already completed and validated. Engineers will strictly execute against approved designs, methods of procedure (MOPs), and runbooks.

This role supports large-scale migrations from legacy Cisco switching platforms to newer Cisco hardware, along with Arista switch upgrades, in live production environments.

• Execute network cutovers and migrations per approved LLD, MOPs, and runbooks

• Perform switch refresh activities including:

  • Legacy Cisco switches to newer Cisco platforms

  • Arista 7280R2 to 7280R3 migrations

• Support migration of approximately 400 switches, including:

  • 48-port SFP switches

  • 10Gb and 25Gb interfaces

  • Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches

  • Addition and validation of new uplinks

  • Small number of 30Gb switches

• Conduct pre-cutover checks, live cutover execution, and post-cutover validation

• Execute work during overnight and weekend maintenance windows

• Follow formal change management and escalation procedures

• Execute rollback plans when required

• Document outcomes and report execution status

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on IT experience

• Cisco certification required:

  • Active or previous CCNA, OR

  • Current or previous CCNP

• Demonstrated experience performing network cutovers and migrations

• Hands-on experience migrating from older Cisco switching hardware to newer Cisco platforms

• Practical experience with Arista switching, including the 7280 series

• Strong working knowledge of:

  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching

  • 10Gb and 25Gb SFP optics

  • Data center ToR architectures

• Ability to execute detailed instructions with precision in production environments

• Comfortable working independently in a remote delivery model

• Experience with large-scale switch refresh programs (hundreds of devices)

• Prior data center migration or enterprise network modernization projects

• Familiarity with structured change management (CAB, MOPs, rollback procedures)

• Remote position

• Availability required for overnight and weekend cutovers

• Schedule dictated by customer-approved maintenance windows

This role is execution-only:

• No network design or architecture responsibilities

• No LLD creation or modification

• Focused on delivery, precision, and operational excellence
