Overview
TELECOMMUNICATIONS MECHANIC II (PSTS-2025-23876) :
Bowhead seeks a Telecommunications Mechanic II to provide Base Telecom Support at the Puget Sound, WA. The Telecom Mechanic effort will provide telecommunications operations and maintenance (O&M). This includes secure and reliable, classified and unclassified, voice and data services in support of Command, Control, Computer, Communications and Information (C4I) operations and exercises.
Responsibilities
Essential functions will include :
- Operate and maintain government-owned telephony switches (PBX) , including : Avaya Systems CM4.0
- Perform : Troubleshooting and repair of switch issuesSoftware updates and patchingInstallation and configuration of switch hardwareDaily operation monitoringSupport for voicemail systems and IPE (Remote Intelligent Peripheral Equipment)
- Utilize company vehicle to travel to remote locations weekly.
- Ensure switch systems remain fully operational and compliant with DoD / Navy standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EducationAssociate’s degree or higher in IT or Cybersecurity (preferred).Years of experience2 years of experience required. 5 years preferred.Prior experience within DoD networks.Required skills or certificationsAvaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS) or equivalentNortel Meridian System Administration or equivalent IAT Level II (per DoD 8570.01-M)Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalentIntermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPointAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contactsTargeted pay range is $36.44 / hr- 45.00 / hr based on interview and experience.
