Qualifications

Training and ExperienceAny combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of college-level education with extensive and demonstrated (paid or volunteer) experience in working with limited or non-English speaking students and adults and ability to speak, read, and write in a designated second language. Knowledge ofCorrect oral and written usage of English and Spanish.Student guidance principles and practices.District and State testing requirements, rules, and regulations.Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary at a level to serve as an English language model.Basic filing and record-keeping techniques.Operation of a computer and related applications.Needs, problems, and experiences of students and their families.District graduation requirements and college entrance requirements.Community resources for educational, health, and welfare services.Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability toSpeak, read, and write English and Spanish fluently.Assist students and parents in a manner that is effective and sensitive to language and cultural differences.Administer a variety of assessments, collect data, and prepare reports.Collect student data and prepare reports.Work a flexible schedule, which may include evening hours to accommodate home visits and attend meetings.Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.Understand and follow oral and written instructions.Read, understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Perform clerical duties.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.Respect the privacy and confidentiality of information.Operate standard office equipment.Work independently with a minimum of supervision.Meet schedules and timelines.Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
