Summary :

Cleans and maintains the exterior and interior church physical plant, ensuring a high level of housekeeping standards.

Duties :

• Performs a variety of housecleaning and custodial tasks as assigned;
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and fills paper and soap dispensers daily;
• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips and wax floors as assigned;
• Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures and baseboards;
• Washes windows, doors and drinking fountains;
• Cleans chewing gum, candy and any other substances from floors, walls and furniture;
• Collects and empties trash receptacles daily and transports and empties them to outside dumpsters;
• Water office plants as needed;
• Transports and arranges furniture, equipment and supplies in the building as required for worship, bible study, meetings, workshops, etc.;
• Prepares baptistery for baptisms : cleaning, filling and draining water and checking water temperature;
• Performs light repair and maintenance duties such as minor repairs to the building and furniture, painting, changing light bulbs, etc.;
• Mows lawn, rakes leaves and shovels snow from sidewalks, driveways and parking lots as required;
• Performs other basic grounds maintenance such as removal of litter, trimming shrubbery, edging sidewalks and curbs, weeding flower beds and putting down mulch;
• Opens and closes the church when assigned and according to standard protocol for securing doors and setting alarms;
• May aid in the distribution of deliveries;
• Reports and / or documents any potential building or grounds problems or hazards;
• Performs post-job inspections;
• Informs supervisor when cleaning supplies inventory levels are low;
• May patrol premises to provide security against vandalism and theft;
• Complies with and enforces church, state and governmental health and safety regulations at all times; comprehends and complies with MSDS sheets;
• Attends and / or participates in all training as scheduled; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
