Y-Play is a service offered to YMCA Members providing a safe space for their children to stay and play while they work out. Children are grouped in age appropriate areas at the center and can enjoy supervised free play for up to two hours at a time. Y-Play is dedicated to maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Y-Play Attendant to join our team and contribute to the wellbeing and development of the children in our care.
As a Y-Play Attendant you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and enriching experience for children under your supervision. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
Provide attentive and compassionate care to children aged six weeks through six years old in YPLAY
Plan and execute age appropriate activities to promote physical, emotional, and cognitive development ( Kids Gym, creative arts, story hour, special events)
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Maintain proper hygiene of children relating to diaper changing and toilet training
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
Build relationships and interact with members, communicating with parents and guardians regarding their child's day and progress.
Report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions

Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Patience, adaptability, initiative, and a positive attitude.
Passion for working with children and a genuine interest in their wellbeing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Possess conflict resolution skills.
Must present a professional image and demonstrate sound judgment.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Minimum 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
Previous experience in childcare or related field (preferred but not required).
Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
Within 30 days of hire: CPR Pro/First Aid/AED
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
