Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate the patients oral health status and needs via screening protocols, including medical history assessment, dental charting, and periodontal charting
- Provide hands-on patient care following standard dental hygiene protocols
- Measure and record patient vital signs
- Carry out standard procedures such as prophylaxis and polishing
- Capture diagnostic radiographs as directed by the dentist for treatment planning
- Administer sealants and fluoride applications
- Manage electronic patient records
- Record the patients dental history and primary complaint
- Document and relay relevant clinical findings
- Educate patients on preventing caries and periodontal disease through diet and effective home-care practices
- Clean and sterilize all instruments
- Prepare the treatment plan as outlined by the dentist
- Discuss the treatment plan and related fees with the patient
- Clearly convey patient questions or concerns to the dentist
- Serve as the lead treatment coordinator
- Perform additional tasks as required
