New England Life Care is two Non-Clinical Liaisons to join our growing team! These are full–time, salaried, exempt positions with a normal Monday – Friday schedule, with occasional weekend requirements .

Job Summary : This Non-Clinical Liaison has three primary job responsibilities.

1. S / he provides clinical review of patients referred by the member hospitals for home infusion therapy to ensure any changes to therapy do not result in delay in patient care.

2. S / he is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to capture and process all change of status referrals.

3. S / he is responsible for relationship building with hospital and clinic staff for quality coordination of care during therapy and payor changes for active patients.

  • Although this is a remote position, we are only hiring in the following states : Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

  • Primary Job Responsibilities :

  • Gathers all identified requirements and coordinates with NELC’s internal departments to maintain an efficient and streamlined change of service process.
  • Develops relationships and seeks opportunities to keep all active home infusion referrals with NELC. This may include developing relationships within the hospital, among ambulatory care providers and within the member hospital’s care providers (e.g. urgent care, SNF, etc.)
  • Regularly communicates insurance coverage and authorization status to internal and external clinical teams throughout the change of service process, and ensures that patients receive timely updates regarding status
  • Actively participates in patient care meetings and / or case conferences providing updated patient or other pertinent information.
  • Attend internal and external NELC / Member meetings as assigned. Works closely with Business Development and NELC Nursing Leadership to support the needs of the member organizations which may include service recovery, data collection, and improvements in the change of service referral management processes.
  • Acts as liaison between NELC and all appropriate departments at the hospital / clinic or the hospital’s / clinic’s system of care. This includes, but is not limited to, the medical staff, care coordination / case management, social services, pharmacy and nursing departments.
  • Assists in coordinating ongoing services with NELC scheduling and other home health agencies.
  • Maintains an appropriate patient case load as defined by Director of Clinical Liaisons
  • Comprehensively documents all interactions with NELC staff and external clinical staff in the patient record and / or electronic progress notes.
  • Effectively communicates patient requirements and changes in patient status to appropriate members of NELC infusion and reimbursement teams as well as the Home Health Agency (HHA) staff involved in meeting the patient’s home health needs.
  • Transcribes orders for therapy changes for clinical staff and obtains completed documentation for NELC pharmacy.
  • Ensures that confidentiality of patient information is maintained in accordance with state and federal HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
  • Ensure accurate completion and reimbursement determination of therapy specific reimbursement checklists as required by payer and NELC guidelines
  • Investigate NELC processes to ensure accurate workflow, identify process gaps, and prevent delays in patient care while safeguarding organizational financial integrity.
  • Educational Requirements :

  • A.S. in healthcare field recommended
  • Experience with medical policy review and authorizations required
  • Two (2) years Intravenous therapy experience in hospital or homecare recommended
  • Regulatory Requirements :

  • M.A., R.N., L.P.N. or R.D. license / certification in good standing if applicable in the state(s) where providing care / services required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations preferred.
  • Knowledge of JCAHO accreditation process and overall JCAHO standards preferred.
  • Skills :

  • Working / practical knowledge of home infusion therapy administration / equipment use preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all customers and members of the healthcare team verbally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills required.
  • Good organization skills required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team required.
  • Working / practical knowledge of microcomputer systems including patient documentation systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Dependability in attendance and job performance required.
