Are you passionate about data management and eager to support academic research? The Texas A&M University Libraries are seeking a dedicated Data Services Librarian to join their team. In this role you will curate research data from Texas A&M University, ensuring compliance with university, funding agency, and government requirements. You will provide expert guidance on data curation, management, and preservation, collaborate with faculty and students on research projects, and develop innovative data services to enhance our academic community. This includes cataloging data, assisting with data management plans, applying funding agency and governmental requirements, coordinating with departments to meet data needs, enhancing data quality, and ensuring compliance with privacy and security requirements. Additionally, you will ensure data quality, integrity, and security, maintain standards and protocols for data management, and provide training and support on data planning and best practices. These functions help ensure that the college's data resources are effectively managed and utilized, supporting the institution's overall research and educational goals.

Opportunities to Contribute :
Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) in designing and implementing data management plans that comply with sponsor agreements, regulations, and TAMU policies
Advise PIs on compliance with data stewardship requirements, including sustainability, access, and sharing of research data
Manage the institutional repository for archiving, access, and preservation of TAMU research data, ensuring security and proper metadata alignment
Collaborate with researchers, metadata librarians, and the Division of Research to facilitate the collection, validation, and reporting of research data
Participate in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development and to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs
Qualifications :
Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent education and experience
Knowledge of academic library functions
Familiarity with metadata standards and data curation practices
Ability to develop data management plans
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess :
Additional education in Information or Computer Science
Experience with data management in a library or business setting
Two years of related experience in a public, academic, or specialized library or archive
Proficiency in data processing, analysis, and visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or Python
Familiarity with institutional repository software such as DSpace, contentDM, or Drupal
Familiarity with funding agency and government agency data requirements
Education or experience in working with research data
Proficiency with data management tools and best practices
Strong data management skills, cataloging acumen, and enthusiasm for training staff and faculty in best data practices
Minimum Starting Salary : $62,900.00
