A healthcare role is available in Concord, NC, offering an opportunity to deliver specialized nursing care within a dynamic Trauma Level III teaching hospital setting. This contract position focuses on a Med/Tele unit dedicated to managing complex patient cases such as chest pain, syncope, and angina.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled nursing care to an average census of 8 patients per shift within a 10-bed Med/Tele unit.
  • Manage patients with various medical conditions including stroke, cardiac issues, and complex drain/tube care.
  • Perform advanced skills such as cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy and chest tube management, PIV starts, and various medication drip administrations (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including supervisors, charge RNs, resource RNs, hospitalists, and respiratory therapists.
  • Comply with hospital policies, utilizing EMR (EPIC) and IV pump technologies (Alaris).
  • Participate in floating within the regional hospital system according to skill scope and organizational needs.
  • Engage in weekend rotations every other week and support coverage during 75% of holidays.

Qualifications or Desired Experience

  • Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience preferred; stroke care and critical care skills strongly recommended.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  • Ability to competently manage advanced nursing interventions and equipment.
  • Willingness to float across multiple hospital locations within the region.

Scheduling Details

  • Shifts of 12 hours: 06:5019:10 and 18:5007:10, with a schedule cycle every 6 weeks.
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend, holiday coverage expected at 75%.
  • Paid travel time when floating mid-shift between facilities.
