Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Software Engineer / Embedded Software Developer to join our team supporting a cutting-edge space and satellite program. This hybrid role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in agile environments and possesses deep technical expertise in embedded C++ development within real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks. The successful candidate will split their time between engineering responsibilities and hands-on software development, ensuring agile best practices are followed while contributing directly to mission-critical software components.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Guide the team on Agile principles and help remove impediments to progress.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure backlog clarity and prioritization.
- Track and report team metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and transparency.
- Utilize Git for version control and collaboration across development teams.
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C++ for real-time systems.
- Work within the VxWorks RTOS environment to support satellite and space system functionality.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of embedded systems.
- Collaborate with systems engineers and other developers to meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Ensure compliance with software development standards and documentation.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.5+ years of experience in embedded software development using C++.Strong experience with VxWorks and real-time operating systems.Proven experience working in real-time environments with strict timing and reliability constraints.Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.Proficiency with Git for source control and team collaboration.Excellent communication and leadership skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in aerospace, defense, or satellite systems.Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Rally.Experience with hardware / software integration and low-level debugging.Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00 / hr.
