The Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) —also known as a step-down unit—cares for patients who are more stable than ICU level , but still require close monitoring , frequent assessments, and advanced nursing skills.

An IMC RN provides high-acuity bedside care , manages complex patients, and responds quickly to changes in condition.
