Certificates / Licenses :

• Possession of a valid Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture with Category 11 at time of appointment and during tenure of appointment. Employees are additionally required to obtain categories 15 and 16 on their RUP license within six months from the date of employment.
• Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to and during tenure of appointment.

Additional Information Before a candidate can be employed for this position, he / she must successfully pass a physical examination as legally required by the regulations of the NIOSH, the EPA and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Job Summary : Entry level of the journeyman series in the pest control trade. The employees in this class are responsible for performing structural pest control and extermination work for the School District of Philadelphia. Work involves routinely inspecting facilities, accurately identifying pests, monitoring and evaluating conditions and determining the most appropriate strategy for pest control from a variety of chemical and non-chemical methods. Work additionally involves utilizing effective and environmentally safe approaches to pest management and eradication by implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) concepts and techniques. Duties increase in scope and complexity as the employee gains familiarity with the work environment. Work assignments may require that employees work overtime or weekends.
