We are looking for an experienced RPG Developer to join our team in the Des Moines Metro. As part of this long-term contract position, you will play a pivotal role in developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining RPG-based applications while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. This role requires a balance of technical expertise and strong communication skills to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities :
- Develop, test, and maintain RPG-based applications, ensuring functionality and performance meet business needs.
- Collaborate with business partners to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in RPG, DB2, and related systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Document processes, workflows, and solutions to ensure clarity and consistency in project deliverables.
- Work closely with team members to delegate tasks effectively and ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Provide exceptional support to end-users, addressing inquiries and resolving technical challenges.
- Adapt to different versions of RPG, leveraging knowledge to optimize code across platforms.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure quality assurance, despite the absence of a dedicated QA team.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Take ownership of projects from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in RPG development, including proficiency with RPG III, RPG IV, RPG Free, RPGLE, and SQLRPGLE.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize database-related code.
- Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and React.js is a plus.
- Proven ability to work with multiple versions of RPG and adapt to diverse coding environments.
- Excellent communication skills to gather requirements and collaborate effectively with business partners.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, demonstrating leadership and delegation skills.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to manage projects from initiation to completion.
- Familiarity with IBM RPG systems and related tools, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
