CAD Designer – Fiber / Telecommunications (OSP + ISP)

Title : CAD Designer – Fiber / Telecommunications (OSP + ISP) Location : NY / NJ Metro (Remote but local travel to NJ / NYC required) Type : Full-time Cad work will be conducted from home. However, training will be at the Millburn, NJ location and all meetings will be in Millburn, NJ. Surveys will be conducted on jobsites where applicable Overview We’re looking for a CAD Designer with hands-on telecommunications experience to support fiber-optic design work across both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) environments. This role combines drafting, field verification, and telecom system knowledge. Ideal candidates have experience working with CATV providers (Comcast / Altice), NYC permitting systems, and fiber network design. Key ResponsibilitiesProduce CAD drawings for fiber-optic ISP / OSP projects, including construction plans, as-builts, and permit packages. Draft and review cable routing for aerial, underground, conduit, manhole, and riser pathways. Map splice points, cable routing, and continuity paths. Convert field survey data (photos, notes, measurements) into accurate CAD drawings. Embed images, create viewports, and publish DWG-to-PDF. Convert PDFs to DWG and prepare non-scale drawings as needed. Perform or support make-ready surveys and on-site route verifications. Ensure compliance with telecom regulations, permitting requirements, and CATV standards. Maintain documentation, survey reports, and drawing packages for internal and client use. Clean and optimize CAD files (Overkill / Purge) for sharing. Required Skills & Experience3–5 years CAD design experience in telecom, fiber, or CATV (OSP / ISP). Strong AutoCAD proficiency (extend / trim / hatch / splits / sketch tools). Ability to read / draw floor plans, riser diagrams, and cable routing. Experience with aerial and underground fiber design. Knowledge of NYC ECS system (preferred). Experience collaborating with Comcast, Altice, or similar CATV providers (preferred). Comfortable traveling locally to sites in Northern NJ and NYC (expenses reimbursed). Familiar with telecom permitting processes and GIS / drafting practices. EducationCollege degree preferred, or equivalent hands-on telecom CAD experience.
