About The Position

Job Title : RN - Emergency Department

Experience : 2-5 years nursing experience, including 1 year of emergency department experience within the past year. Will accept first-time travelers with 3+ years of emergency department experience.

License : RN required

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (preferred : TNCC)

Must-Have :

General emergency department skills

Strong IV skills

Cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring

Foley placement and management

NGT placement and management

Knowledgeable in STEMI, CVA, and sepsis treatments

Medication titration

Strong phlebotomy skills

Splinting abilities

EKG performance

Point-of-Care testing experience

Description :

This position requires nursing staff to provide care to a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics.

Patient types include those with chest pain, dizziness, syncope, strokes, sepsis, orthopedic issues, respiratory distress / failure, STEMI, and COVID.

Behavioral health medical clearance is also within the scope of care.

The average number of patients per day ranges from 100 to 160.

Patient ratios are 1 : 3-4 during the day and 1 : 3-4 at night for RNs.

Emergency department technicians will work with 2-4 techs per shift, with 1 tech available from 0300-0700.

The role includes essential skills such as placing patients on telemetry monitors and assisting with turning patients.

Support on the unit is available from a charge nurse, emergency department educator, phlebotomy staff, and resource nurses.

Clinical operations technicians may assist as needed.

Technology used includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems.

Travelers may float to different areas based on facility needs.

Scheduling includes every other weekend rotation, and approval for time off must be coordinated with the nursing management team.

Professional scrub colors are required with specific guidelines on acceptable attire.
