They will lead and oversee programs, events, services, and communication strategies that meaningfully engage alumni, volunteers, donors, students, and other external constituents with one another and with the university, and inspire them to support NJIT through increasingly generous investments of their time, talent, and treasure.

The AVP-AEG&C must be an effective and enthusiastic leader who excels at building and sustaining strong external and internal relationships, is responsive to environmental challenges, industry trends, and university needs, and can strategically drive broad-based engagement and philanthropic efforts through new and traditional channels. The AVP-AEG&C serves as a member of the University Advancement office's senior leadership team and will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with the officers and board of the NJIT Alumni Association, other volunteer leaders, the President of the university, the Deans of NJIT's six colleges, University Advancement colleagues, and other constituents in articulating and implementing policy, plans, goals, and activities related to alumni engagement, annual giving, and engagement communications.

  • Serve as University Advancement's primary liaison to the NJIT Alumni Association; provide leadership in all Alumni Association activities and overall management of volunteer recruitment, training, and stewardship of Alumni Association officers and board members; and work closely with officers and board members to expand and enhance the organization's role in engaging all alumni in the life and future of their alma mater

  • Guide and mentor University Advancement staff members on best-practice activities, strategies, programs, and priorities related to alumni engagement, annual giving, and engagement communications; build trust-based, positive, and authentic working relationships with them, follow university and industry best practices for performance management, and model desired behaviors.
