Job Overview

As a Drill Automation Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Drill Automation Engineering team in the Surface Drill Business Unit. The Drill Automation Engineering team develops and supports operator assist, teleoperation, and autonomous technologies for blasthole drills. Activities will include prototype development and testing : assembling components, sensor / actuator integration to control system architecture, and software development including user interface. Activities may also include software development and integration testing.

This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee's Harbor District! The target start date for this role is Summer 2026 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2026 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Assembling prototype hardware
• Designing and 3D printing prototype components
• Writing software drivers for sensors and actuators
• Creating and executing test plans
• Participating in design reviews
• Developing and author testing software

Hiring Range

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $20.00 - 25.00 per hour. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
