Assistant Professor of Music Theory – Tenure-Track
We invite applications for a full‑time, 9‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor position specializing in Western music theory and aural skills, with a preferred start date of August 2026. The position will be located in Towson, MD, with an annual salary of $67,000–$70,000.
This role requires an innovative, student‑centered teacher‑scholar who will demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarly engagement, and service. A minimum of two years of successful college / university‑level teaching experience is required.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver undergraduate courses in Western music theory and aural skills.
Develop curriculum materials and assessment tools.
Engage in scholarly research related to music theory and / or aural pedagogy.
Fulfill service duties to the department, college, and university.
Qualifications
Ph.D. (or Ph.D.‑candidate) in Music Theory, aural skills, or a related field.
Three or more years of teaching experience at the college or university level.
Strong commitment to undergraduate education and inclusive teaching practices.
Active scholarly or creative engagement in the field of music theory.
