SENIOR MONITORING AND COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Under the direction of the Communications Coordinator, the Senior Monitoring and Communications Specialist assists in managing the personnel and daily operations of the Communications Division of Allen County Community Corrections (ACCC). This role directly supervises a minimum of fifteen subordinate staff to cover operations at all times (24 hours/day, 365 days/year), provides dispatch and safety services for full‑time and contract home detention officers, and assists in the real‑time supervision of approximately 500 serious and/or violent offenders on Home Detention, GPS Electronic monitoring, and Residential Services supervision, ensuring public safety. This position is Covered as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

Difficulty Of Work
The Senior Monitoring and Communications Specialist performs work that is broad in scope and of substantial intricacy, requiring judgment to ensure procedures are followed and information is accurately entered into electronic monitoring systems.
Responsibility
Provides substantial contributions when completing monthly audits to ensure compliance with existing policies, procedures, and system integrity. Work is reviewed for sound judgment and conclusions.
Personal Work Relationships
Maintains frequent contact with other County employees and offenders while managing personnel and operations of the ACCC Communications Division.
Working Conditions
Works in a call center setting with frequent sitting, ability to move freely, lifting up to forty pounds, bending, pushing/pulling, reaching, kneeling, crawling, and mental/visual effort. Exposed to extreme temperatures, dangerous equipment, chemicals, noise, and hostile or violent program participants.
Supervision
Assists in supervising a minimum of fifteen non‑supervisory employees and part‑time employees, including training and direct supervision of the Communications Division staff.
Licensing
Public Safety Dispatcher, Proprietary Electronic Monitoring Systems and Computer Aided Dispatching Certification (within six months). IDACS/NCIC Coordinator Certification (within six months). Motivational Interviewing and Interpersonal Communication certification. Notary Public. Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification. Valid Driver’s License.

Hours
Shifts and placement may vary depending on agency need; 40 hours/week as assigned; available on call; overtime as required.
