Supply Chain Specialist

Supply Chain Specialist / Duration : 12+ months contract with possibility of extension. Location : Baytown, TX 77520 Shift : Standard

Main Responsibilities

Project & Process Optimization

  • Manage a portfolio of projects in site logistics, logistics purchasing, and transport management (Integrated Logistics).
  • Develop and implement standards and long-term sustainable strategies in integrated logistics.
  • Identify process optimization opportunities in quality, efficiency, and cost through synergies and new automation / digital technologies.
  • Develop early-warning systems to identify bottlenecks in material flow and critical logistics infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and lead logistics-related capital investment projects.
  • Develop excellence functions for truck, rail, and ship transportation modes.
  • Prepare make-or-buy analyses for external logistics services.

Supply Chain Strategy & Sustainability

  • Ensure sustainability of previous supply-chain improvements from strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Co-develop and execute short- and long-term supply-chain improvement strategies for the Baytown site.
  • Identify risks and develop solutions to reduce delays and improve overall logistics efficiency.

    • Safety, Compliance & Performance

  • Promote logistics safety and lead root-cause analyses for incidents.
  • Implement proactive measures to support a safe logistics culture.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and distribution regulations according to federal requirements and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement logistics policies and procedures aligned with business and customer requirements.
  • Analyse performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.

    • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or Industrial Engineering with 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation and logistics OR MA / MS / MBA with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) in a reasonable timeframe.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or must complete within first year).
  • Experience in lean manufacturing management.

    • Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of distribution safety, core processes, and regulatory logistics requirements.
  • Experience using SAP ERP and Business Warehouse.
  • Skilled in change management.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise with proven sustainable results.
  • Experience in advising management and translating issues into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication skills across functions and disciplines.
