Description :
The Infection Control Practitioner II at Loyola University Medical Center leads site and region-wide infection prevention and control activities. They conduct infection surveillance and educate all staff levels within the organization with respect to infection control. They participate in program development designed to address local and national trends, and recommendations of organizations such as the Joint Commission and the CDC. The Infection Control Practitioner II collects, measures and analyzes data and pertinent research in the areas of infection control. They develop policy, procedure, presentations, and articles for internal and external publication. They consult on issues related to emergency management, construction or other organizational needs. The role has supervisory responsibility to mentors, coach and educate colleagues in the Infection Control Practitioner I role.
Position responsibilities :
Conducts surveillance of microbiology data with analysis of blood stream infections, surgical site infections, and multi-drug resistant organisms; serve as reviewer for all reportable hospital required infections identified by ICP I colleagues; Perform data analysis and provide feedback of data to medical directors and administrators. Remain current in pertinent literature and infection control practice.
Directs and monitors Joint Commission survey preparation related to Infection Control. Prepares data and documents for Joint Commission sessions and serve as subject matter expert for survey needs.
Develops infection control programs such as hand hygiene and implement them throughout the health system.
Educates clinical and non-clinical staff regarding infection control practices.
Reports pertinent infection control data to public health departments.
Leads and participates in health system committees to represent infection control practice.
Rounds on units and outpatient clinics regularly to ensure compliance with infection control practices; participate on unit-based QI committees.
Reviews and revises infection control policies at least annually; develops infection control and performance improvement policies related to Emergency Management and participate in mandatory drills. Leads the annual review of the Infection Control Plan and risk assessment including the development of key metrics in partnership with medical directors.
Conducts and / or coordinate follow up of exposures to patients, families and physicians and partners with Occupational Health on infection control concerns.
Consults with all departments and programs within the health system on issues and concerns related to infection control and prevention.
Develops articles and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Facilitates monthly Infection Control meetings.
Orients, coaches and mentors Infection Control Practitioner I colleagues.
Coordinates all onboarding and training for new hires.
Requirements :
MSN, MPH, MS or equivalent degree in microbiology or biological sciences.
3 - 5 years' experience in Infection Control strongly preferred or 6 - 10 years job-related experience strongly preferred.

Compensation :
Pay range : $74,651- $130,852
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
