Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position with current PALS certification and weekend / holiday shift requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital-based Float Pool serving pediatric patients
  • Assignment involves coverage of a variety of units and patient acuity levels from simple to complex
  • Shifts are 12 hours, with required availability for weekends and holidays
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • No local candidates within 50 miles of the facility will be considered
  • Responsible for managing an assigned group of pediatric patients, documenting care and patient responses
  • Administers medications, monitors IV infusions and blood products, and assists in minor diagnostic procedures
  • Provides patient and family education and collaborates with the healthcare team on care plans
  • Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff
  • Must be able to maintain professional working relationships with multidisciplinary staff
  • Extended contracts are limited to a total of 26 weeks before a 6-month break is required
  • Scrub required in accordance with hospital guidelines

    • Requirements

  • Active Oklahoma or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 1 year pediatric RN experience
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
  • Current AHA-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required
  • Ability to respond to cultural and language needs of patients and families
  • Some computer proficiency is required
